Astrological Basics for Understanding Your Natal Chart Reading:
Your “natal chart” shows the placements of the Sun, Moon, and all of the planets at the time of your birth. It also shows us which sign was rising at the time of your birth, commonly referred to as your “ascendant.”
Your chart, like all charts, is divided into 12 “Houses,” which concern various areas of our lives, including partnership, career, friendship, and family roots. Where your ascendant begins is where your First House begins.
Meaning can be found in your natal chart based upon (a) the sign placement of planets* (b) the house placement of planets (c) aspects between planets.
“Aspects” occur when one planet is located a certain degree from another planet. Some aspects are “harmonious” and some are “difficult.” A square aspect of 90°, for instance, is a difficult aspect, one which causes friction. A trine aspect of 120° is very harmonious and creates an energy that you express very easily.
In your Natal Chart reading, I will discuss what I feel to be the most prominent and important elements of your chart.
*When astrologers refer to the Sun, Moon, and Planets collectively, they simply use the word “planets,” for ease, though of course the Sun and Moon are not really planets.
Sun in Gemini, in 9th House
When you were born, the Sun was in the constellation Gemini. The placement of the Sun in your chart indicates something about your ego personality. Sun in Gemini creates a person who has a non-stop stream of ideas running through their heads at all times. You are probably drawn to communication and sharing ideas. Geminis are often known for being very talkative and for switching from one topic to the next with lightning speed.
Your Sun is located in the 9th house of your chart. You are not only interested in casual conversations about a variety of ideas and concepts about the world, but also in philosophic, “deep” conversations and ideas as well. You are curious to learn about other cultures and most likely love to travel, whether a short trip or a long one!
Sun Opposition Neptune
At the time of your birth, the Sun was opposing the planet Neptune. The opposition aspect requires you to learn how to effectively integrate the energies of the two planets involved. The Sun represents your ego, your personality and identity. The planet Neptune concerns emotionality, confusion, deception, isolation, compassion, and extreme sensitivity. When Neptune opposes your Sun, you can find that you feel great compassion for others and open yourself up to them emotionally, making yourself emotionally vulnerable. You may be especially attracted to people who are dreamy, artistic, and even people who are prone to substance abuse. You find yourself giving yourself to people who you think need you, but sometimes these same people take advantage of your kindness.
You are very sensitive and you can sense emotional undercurrents in people even when they haven’t been expressed verbally. Sometimes you may have trouble knowing “who you are.” These are the affects of Neptune, a planet that is more interested in mystical ways of being than in reality-based ways of being. You may find yourself drawn to escapism, whether through art or other means. Artistic expression will likely be a very helpful way for you to sort out your often confusing emotions.
You may have felt a bit “lost” growing up, or that you did not have the boundaries or security that you felt you needed.
Ascendant in Libra, Venus as Chart Ruler
Your ascendant shows how you are perceived by others, and along with your Sun and Moon placements, the ascendant is one of the strongest indicators of your overall personality. An ascendant in Libra shows that you come across as very diplomatic, fair, and harmonious. People think of you as the “nice guy.” You want to smooth over difficulty whenever possible. You are interested in beauty and in bringing things into harmony. Libra is the great equalizer, and you want to hear both sides equally before making your own decision.
Relationships are very important to Libran people. You seek to find your own identity through your one-on-one relationships with others. Libran people are generally very good at forming balanced relationships, but they can sometimes try to “tip the scales,” so to speak, in their favor, using their “sweet” personas to bypass being blamed when things go wrong.
With Libra ascending in your chart, the ruler of your chart is the planet Venus (the planet that rules the signs Libra and Taurus). Since Venus is in Taurus along with your Moon, and in the 7th House (one of the two houses ruled by Venus as well) this makes you an especially “Libran” person.
Moon and Venus in Taurus, 7th House
The Moon’s placement in your chart indicates how you express yourself emotionally. With the Moon in Taurus, you are very patient but also very stubborn. You tend to hold onto things emotionally. You’re very interested in beauty and harmony, again going back to the Libra influences. You like to be comfortable, and need to create a materially secure world for yourself in order to feel the most emotionally secure.
With the Moon together with Venus in Taurus in the 7th House, long-term, stable, reliable relationships are extremely comfortable. While your Sun indicates that you are probably very personable and friendly toward new people you meet, your Moon placement shows that you are more hesitant when it comes to forming important new relationships. You will let people in slowly, build relationships (whether with friends, family, or romantic partners) in a way that is stable, secure, and enduring. You get into relationships slowly (testing the water with one foot), but once you become secure in a relationship, it is unlikely to end because you are just as hesitant to get leave a relationship as you are to begin one.
This strong 7th House presence also shows that you rely quite a bit on one-on-one relationships with others to meet your needs, whether friendships, love relationships, or family relationships. The presence of Pluto in opposition to these 7th House placements (which I discuss in more detail later in the report) adds to this in that it makes you very loyal to those who you trust, but can also make you a bit self-centered in relationships. You have a natural tendency to place more emphasis on your own needs/desires than your friend, partner, or family member’s needs/desires. This is okay, and actually can be a very good thing considering your Sun Opposition Neptune tendency to give yourself up to help others. You do need to take care of yourself, but there should be a healthy balance between giving all of yourself and taking all *for* yourself.
You can meet your own needs without keeping someone else from having their needs met as well. With all of your Libran tendencies, you are well aware that this kind of balance is possible, and it is most definitely what you strive for in life. The lesson here is just to be honest with yourself about whether or not both parties are having their needs met. It is okay to feel vulnerable in relationships. You want the ability to feel vulnerable, but at the same time it is very difficult for you to allow yourself to feel that way.
North Node in Taurus, 7th House; South Node in Scorpio, 1st House
In addition to the Moon and Venus, the North Node was also in Taurus in the 7th House when you were born. The North Node shows us in which direction we should direct our efforts in life spiritually in order to achieve the most soul-growth in each incarnation. With the help of the Moon and Venus, in this lifetime you are meant to work on creating secure, enduring, balanced relationships with others.
The South Node is exactly opposite the North Node placement, and shows skills that you have mastered or nearly mastered in previous incarnations. A South Node in Scorpio in the 1st House shows that through previous lifetimes you have become very good at expressing a powerful ego persona. You are very good are harnessing power and resources (whether yours or others’) and using them to meet your personal needs and desires. In this lifetime, you are challenged to use those skills to create balanced, harmonious relationships with others without denying your own needs/desires in the process.
Pluto in the 1st House; Pluto Opposition Moon/Venus
While your Libra ascendant makes you a well-mannered and polite to acquaintances, Pluto in your first house gives you an air of intensity of which your close friends will surely be aware. You enjoy having power and being able to get other people to do what you want them to do. You must be careful about how you wield your personal power, though, because you do have a lot of it. You are drawn to situations that give you control and may have to confront these control issues throughout your life.
With Pluto in opposition to the Moon/Venus, your emotions are likely very intense. Many people with difficult aspects between the Moon and Pluto have had traumatic experiences as children, and because of this may have difficulty forming secure relationships later in life. It may be difficult to understand the roots of these strong emotions.
You want extreme loyalty, honesty, and sincere emotional connections in your relationships with others. Vapid, superficial people are not the sorts of people to whom you are attracted. In order to be emotionally satisfied and secure, you feel you need to understand the psychological depths of your partner, friends, and family members. You will also need to share your own psychological depth with others who you trust. You want to know other peoples’ “dark sides,” as well. You will not be completely happy and fulfilled in a romantic relationship if you are unable to express these sides of yourself and feel safe knowing that your partner still loves you despite knowing about these dark parts of yourself.
The danger of having a difficult aspect between the Moon or Venus and Pluto is that you may have a tendency to try to control people and situations. You may approach relationships with a set idea of how you want things to be and manipulate situations to make that plan a reality. You may also try to make things seem “perfect” when they are very much in disarray. This is a method of self-protection, because you fear that if people know the real you they will not like you. This may be true of some people, but throughout life you will learn that the people who really do love you will love you even with all your flaws, and you will learn that you must allow them to see these flaws in order to create emotional stability and security in your relationships.

Natal Chart: Letisha K.
29 August 1985, Knoxville, TN (USA), 11:45 PM
Sun in Virgo in the 5th House
Your Sun is in the sign of Virgo, which makes you a very dutiful, discriminating person. You notice all the details and can be a little fuss-budget sometimes! You want everything to be neat and exact. Virgos can be hardworkers, but they also need to feel that their work is meaningful in order to be satisfied.
Your Sun is also in the 5th House, which is the house ruled by the Sun, and therefore a very happy place for the sun to reside. You are hardworking, but want work to be fun. You are likely charismatic and romantic, warm and have a big heart. You will probably make a good father if you ever decide to become one. The Virgo side of this aspect means you’ll lay down the law with your children with necessary, but you’ll also appreciate their childishness and enjoy playing games with them, especially sports.
Having your Sun in the 5th House makes you very creative. 5th House Suns like to stand out and look good, and their creativity can often be found in their self-presentation (i.e., the clothes you wear, the way you wear your hair, etc). With Virgo added to the mix, you are likely to want to appear “neat” and well-groomed at all times. Because you notice details so acutely, you expect that other people probably also notice those little details, and so you fuss over your appearance at times.
Moon in Pisces in the 10th House
The Moon is very sensitive in Pisces, much like John’s Sun Opposition Neptune aspect. This may be a similarity that brings the two of you together. With a Pisces Moon, you are acutely aware of other peoples’ emotions. In fact, sometimes it may be difficult for you to sort out if your emotions are actually yours or if they are just feelings you are absorbing from the people around you. Take care of yourself emotionally, and find ways to ground yourself and protect yourself as you are especially vulnerable to negative emotions from others. You may find that when you spend time with certain people you feel drained afterward, and this has to do with your Pisces Moon. You are very giving emotionally. You want others to feel comfortable and your emotional antenna goes way up when you sense that someone is unhappy. This makes you a very compassionate person, but it also makes you susceptible to emotional draining, like I mentioned before.
With the Moon in the 10th House, you are very practical emotionally. You need to build relationships firmly over time in order to feel most secure. Again, this is a similarity you have with John. Moon in the 10th House also makes you very ambitious. You want to be known in the world for doing something purposeful and important. You want to be recognized for your hard work and for your achievements. You are not one to drift idly through life; instead you will be setting up goals for yourself continually throughout your life and slowly but surely you will bring these goals to fruition. You need to know that others are proud of you and that they notice the good work you do, but sometimes it is difficult for you to ask for that validation. You will have to learn to ask for what you need emotionally, if you haven’t already, and this may be a hard lesson for you to learn as the Piscean element to your Moon makes you so aware of others’ emotional needs that you cannot understand why others don’t just automatically understand yours as well. Be patient with these less intuitive types, let them know how you feel and what you need, and you’ll likely be surprised at how more fulfilling your life can be when you do so.
Virgo Sun in Opposition to Pisces Moon, both in Aspect to Neptune
When Sun and Moon are in opposition in the natal chart, this means you have been born under a full moon. The full moon aspect makes you prone to quick changes in mood. One minute you can be laughing, the next you just want to mope around by yourself.
You may have found that your parents had differing expectations of you growing up, as the Sun in the chart is symbolic of the father’s influence and the Moon is symbolic of the mother’s influence (or, if you did not grow up with the influence of both a mother and father, then this has to do with masculine and feminine parenting influences in your life in general).
On the one hand you are very practical and down to earth, but on the other you are dreamy and up in the clouds. You are critical of others’ faults, but compassionate and understanding of their failings at the same time.
This opposition finds release in that both the Sun and the Moon make harmonious aspects to the planet Neptune, which is the ruler of the sign Pisces. Neptune keeps popping up as a strong element in both yours and John’s charts, and it is the planet of dreaminess, the collective unconscious, intuition, psychic ability, sensitive emotionality, and artistic expression. Though you are practical and rational (as dictated by your Sun in Virgo), you are probably more comfortable with the irrational, Neptunian side of yourself. Your gift in relationships is your ability to understand the other person’s perspective intuitively. Your weakness is in your own extreme sensitivity. Often times you may think that others are judging you or criticizing you when they really aren’t. Even the slightest hint of negativity from someone else can sometimes seem like a much bigger deal than it really is. When in doubt, ask the other person what their real intent is toward you; you’ll probably find that they had no mal-intent toward you to begin with.
North Node Taurus in 12th House; South Node Scorpio 6th House
Like John, your North Node is in Taurus. In this lifetime, your soul needs to learn how to create emotional and material stability for itself. You need to learn how to be patient and how to put down roots. The particular house in which this north node energy is taking place is in the 12th House, the house ruled by Neptune and associated with the sign of Pisces. You are a very Neptunian person! You will need how to balance being compassionate toward others with maintaining your own emotional needs and sense of identity. You are probably already very good at being alone; you most likely need a lot of time alone to process all of the energy that you absorb from other people, and also to get in touch with your own unique identity, which often gets lost in the shuffle. Do not ever be afraid to demand alone-time for yourself when you need it. When you do this, you are learning the lessons your soul needs to learn in this lifetime.
Dream journaling or other methods of working through unconscious issues will be very helpful to you, and your unconscious is likely a source of great inspiration and creativity for you. You probably enjoy the emotional heights and depths involved in listening to “deep” music, or getting lost in a good book. Escapism is very important to you, and it’s fine to an extent, just don’t let yourself get too lost in the fog. With Taurus in the 12th House, you are called upon to experience the vast cosmic awareness available in the 12th House, but to do so in the grounded, practical, resourceful way that Taurus is most suited toward. Build firm and lasting foundations for yourself. Make a life for yourself that allows you to dream, but allows you to keep your feet firmly planted as you do so.
With your South Node in Scorpio in the 6th House, you may have difficulty with perfectionist tendencies. You can be very intensely dedicated to your work, and very dutiful, loyal, and reliable in your work life as well. These are skills you have learned through prior lifetimes and have mastered or nearly mastered. They are skills that you bring into this incarnation. However, your North Node asks you not to worry so much and not to feel the need to present a seamless, perfect façade to the world in order to feel that you are successful. Have faith that the universe will provide for you and that you will be loved even when you are not perfect
Venus and Mars in Leo; Venus Square Pluto
With both Venus and Mars in Leo, you are very proud in love! You will want to show off your romantic partner a bit, like a proud lion. You are very warm and romantic. You need to have a lot of validation from your partner, need to hear them admire the way you look, etc. You can be a little bit bossy at times, wanting to be the authority, the one in charge. You can be a very good leader when you want to be, and with all the Neptunian elements in your chart, you are likely good at taking others’ needs into account even as you lead them. You probably like a lot of physical affection with your romantic partners and enjoy a very fiery sort of love-making.
You and John both have difficult aspects between Venus and Pluto. You both need a partner who you can be your authentic self with, and since you both have that need you will understand each other well along those lines. You will be most happy when your partner will love and accept you at both your best AND your worst. You don’t want to have to hide your true self, and you want to see the authentic identify of your partner as well.
When you find someone you can bond with on a very intense emotional level, you will do everything you possibly can to ensure this person’s happiness. You will be extremely loyal to this person.
There will be times when relationships and situations will end for you abruptly and devastatingly. It will be difficult for you to let go of toxic people at times, even when you realize the toxicity exists. Be careful to nurture sincere, loving relationships and do not become too attached to toxic ones if you can avoid them.
Since you and John share this Venus/Pluto energy in your charts, you will both need to be very mindful of this tendency. One of your strengths as a couple will be your loyalty to each other and the deep emotional intimacy you will share. You will not want to hide things from each other, and you will feel good about being your real selves with each other. The one big problem you may have with one another is holding on to past grievances and grudges. You may also have a tendency to let annoyances build up over time until they come to the point of exploding. Try to make each other aware of these irritations and hurt feelings *as they happen* rather then holding on to them for later.

Synastry Chart Reading:
John M. & Letisha K.
Astrological Basics for Understanding Your Synastry Reading
A “synastry” chart shows each of your individual charts together, so that an astrologer can see clearly how each of your astrological placements interacts with the other’s placements. As with the Natal Chart, we are interested in seeing the aspects planets make to each other as well as which houses of your partner’s chart your own planets fall within.
Letisha’s Moon in John’s 5th House
With this placement, there will be a lot of emotional warmth in the relationship. Letisha, you will find John to be emotionally comforting and romantic. He inspires you to embrace your inner child, and with this placement I’d say it is highly likely you will want to have children together! If you do have children, you will have a lot of fun with them, viewing the world anew through their young eyes.
Letisha’s North Node in John’s 7th House, Conjunct Her Moon/Venus
This is a very strong synastry aspect to have! The North Node is a very spiritual element in an astrological chart, and strong aspects (such as conjunctions) show a very strong, soul-mate type bond between the two of you. John, you will be very helpful to Letisha as her soul progresses in this lifetime because your Moon and Venus pull her in the right direction. She may have seemed a likely candidate for a romantic partner from early on, because the North Node (or any planets) in someone’s 7th House indicate that this person fulfills so much of what you need/desire in a partner.
Letisha, you find John warm and comforting. You find him handsome, alluring, and caring. He inspires you to be the best you can be in life. Be thankful to have such a strong element in your synastry chart! This relationship will change both of you, and for the better.
Letisha’s Venus on John’s Midheaven
This is not an especially romantic placement, but it is very helpful to the longevity and endurance of a relationship. The Midheaven is the placement in a person’s chart that begins their 10th House, which is the House associated with career/status/worldly-success. Marriages are also found in the 10th House, as they are one manner in which we express our worldly success (the success of finding the right partner).
Venus conjunct the Midheaven indicates that this relationship really helps Letisha to shine, and John will place his relationship with Letisha as one of his ultimate achievements in life. This placement also indicates that your relationship will be beneficial in terms of career and long-term financial stability. You will be supportive of each other along these lines.
Letisha’s Sun in John’s 11th House
Letisha, you see John not only as a romantic partner, but also as a trusted friend. You likely have many interests in common. Your circle of friends is likely intertwined somehow, or if not, the two of you would benefit from sharing mutual friends.
Letisha’s Sun trine John’s Moon/Venus/North Node
Sun trine Moon is one of the strongest indications of a marriageable relationship, because it indicates that Letisha’s ego personality is in harmony with John’s ability to care and love. This is another of those aspects that probably caused the two of you to be attracted to each other from early on. Letisha’s love for John makes him shine and thrive, and she is able to love him for exactly who he is.
Harmonious Venus aspects are always fruitful to romantic relationships as well, and this aspect shows that you benefit each other socially. With Letisha’s Sun trine John’s North Node, she helps pull him toward the highest expression of his self.
Letisha’s Moon trine John’s Mars
Harmonious aspects between Moon and Mars are a *very* sexy combination! Your lovemaking can be very sweet and caring while hot and passionate at the same time. This is a very lovely combination, because it means that your love life will provide you the opportunity to be very emotionally intimate with each other. Lovemaking will not usually be just about, you know, the orgasm! It will be about the process of loving and nurturing each other. At the same time, the fire, the spark, the electricity will be very strong! It’s like the best of both worlds: hot sex, and cuddly sex at the same time. Consider yourselves blessed!
John’s Sun/Mars/Mercury in Letisha’s 2nd House w/Neptune Opposite
John, with so many planets in Letisha’s 2nd House, you will encourage her to be resourceful and financially grounded. The two of you could do well going into business as partners, actually, though with your Mars present here you need to be careful not to argue about money matters.
Also, because this cluster of planets is in opposition to where Neptune was located at both of your times of birth, there is a danger of being a little spacey or unrealistic with each other when it comes to money matters. Be careful to be upfront with each other about money and spending.
John’s Moon/Venus/NN in Letisha’s 12th House
This placement reinforces what I have seen elsewhere in your charts, which is that you are very intuitively linked to each other. You are very aware of each other’s emotions, though at times you can almost be *too* aware, overreacting to perceived slights or judgments. This is always tendency with watery 12th House/Neptune/and Piscean energy.
Still, it will make you both very compassionately aware of the other’s needs, even when those needs are expressed unconsciously.
John’s Mercury trine Letisha’s Moon
This is a wonderful aspect that encourages the two of you to openly express your emotions with each other. John, you may be the one to initiate these conversations more often as it is your Mercury that is involved here and Mercury is the planet of communication and shared ideas, but the reason you can do this so easily is because there is something about Letisha’s manner of caring and nurturing you that makes you feel comfortable to do so.
This aspect will also make it easy for the two of you to have easy chit-chat about a variety of topics. There’s not much danger of running out of things to talk about!
John’s Venus square Letisha’s Jupiter
This is a great aspect that indicates it is easy for the two of you to enjoy social, entertainment, and cultural events together (i.e, spending time with friends, watching movies, going to concerts, museums/attractions, going out to eat, shopping, etc). While it is great that you enjoy spending time together, with this aspect you could encourage each other to spend a bit recklessly, and so just be cautious of that and take care of your pocketbooks!
Composite Chart Reading:
John M. & Letisha K.
Astrological Basics for Understanding Your Composite Reading
A “composite” chart takes each of your individual charts and combines them to create a new chart that shows the personality of your united selves. For example, in the composite chart, the Moon will show up at the midpoint between where it was in Letisha’s chart and where it was in John’s chart. The composite shows how the two of you work as a couple and how your couple-hood works as its own entity, in contrast to the synastry chart which shows how each of you as individuals affect each other.
Ascendant in Leo with Sun in Leo and Moon in Aries
Yours is a very dynamic relationship! Other people see the two of you as an exciting, dramatic, stylish couple. You can easily take center-stage together in a group setting, and you appear to others as very warm and charming together.
Venus in Gemini in 11th House, Opposite Uranus
The two of you will enjoy exploring together, satisfying your mutual curiosities about the variety of interests you share. With Venus in the 11th House, you will likely have mutual friendships and your network of social contacts will be an important element to the strength of your relationship. With Venus in opposition to Uranus, there is a certain element of unconventionality to your relationship which you need to embrace in order to survive the ups and downs of your partnership. Your love for each other may have come about in a non-traditional way or may have just sprung up out of nowhere. Similarly, throughout your marriage you need to be prepared for sudden changes and allow the relationship to change and adjust as necessary. This relationship should always be stimulating and exciting! Embrace that, and embrace unconventionality, and your loving friendship with each other will be very exciting and enduring.
Jupiter Conjunct Descendant
Jupiter on the descendant is a wonderful aspect for relationships. It shows that your relationship is naturally expansive and the two of you will continue to grow as a couple throughout your marriage. This placement also shows that your relationship will involved a great deal of freedom-seeking, and both of you will need to be able to find the balance between each of your needs for freedom so that both of you will feel equally independent and free.
Pluto Conjunct IC with Scorpio 4th House
This is a very intense placement, showing a psychological awareness and closeness in your relationship that will be very beneficial. You will be able to bond very tightly with each other as you create a secure home life for yourselves. There is something about your relationship that brings forth issues from your own childhoods that you are able to work through in your relationship.
This energy is reinforced by the fact that composite Mars/Sun/Mercury are square to Pluto, which is a difficult aspect. Again, the emotionality of this relationship will be very genuine and not at all superficial, but you will need to be willing to overcome major changes throughout your relationship, the kinds of changes that make you feel as though everything is crashing down around you. These changes are necessary, however, and I always relate Plutonic change to that of a plant dying and its seeds bringing forth new life. Your relationship will be reborn stronger and stronger many times, like a phoenix igniting and coming back from its own ashes. Together, you will learn to deal effectively with crisis moments if you are able to handle the intensity of this aspect.
Mars/Sun/Mercury Conjunct in 12th House
I have found that composite placements in the 12th House can make it very difficult for a relationship to begin to begin with because there is a great deal of uncertainty about the aims of the relationship and the needs/desire of each person involved. There can also be a certain secretiveness about the relationship. Obviously, as you are getting married, other people do know that you are in a relationship but there will definitely be aspects of your relationship that are purposefully kept private from others.
There is already a great deal of 12th House/Neptunian/Piscean energy in your charts, and so this placement re-emphasizes what I have said before about the need to be very honest and upfront with each other.
Because of Mercury’s placement here, even when you try to communicate your desire to each other directly, they may be misunderstood. Mars here can lead to passive-aggressive interactions. Obviously you have overcome this hurdle enough to form a tight relationship already, but it will definitely require careful attention throughout your marriage as well.
Mars/Sun/Mercury Trine Saturn and Trine Moon
Harmonious aspects to Saturn and the Moon are always very, very beneficial to the longevity of a relationship. There will be a great deal of emotional understanding here, and Saturn acts benevolently here to sustain your relationship over a long period of time. You will both be willing to do the work necessary to sustain this relationship for the long haul, and that is fantastic for a couple who are embarking on such a loving journey together!
Letisha and John,
I hope you have enjoyed your compatibility reading. It is easy to see what draws the two of you together. There is wonderful alchemy between your astrological charts. I wish you both the best!
Sincerely,
Gabby Turner, Astrologer and Tarot Reader
