Every year for the past few years I have chosen one singular tarot card to serve as a lesson, guide, or indication of important themes/experiences I would encounter in the year to come. For 2023, that card is the 7 of Wands.
Hmm. Well it isn’t exactly promising, like the Wheel of Fortune. The 7 of Wands indicates a need to maintain ground gained. In other words, guard against situations/people who might threaten to topple whatever I have built.
The 7’s are all SPIRITUAL LESSON cards, though, and that is important. What is really important when we are in a 7 of Wands experience? For one thing, we are alone against a crowd who seemingly opposes us.
Grace Under Pressure comes to mind. If so, this card is both a prophetic indication of strife to come this year (well, I’m used to that I guess) but also an indication that I will be utilizing my strength in facing challenges.
A year to NOT BACK DOWN from challenges, and to not give up what I have built for myself.
The real desire though in this card, and the dilemma, is that the person in the 7 of Wands wants to GO FURTHER but is caught in a Catch-22 because to do so would leave them exposed to the threats coming at them.
How do you get out of the Catch-22? When we look at the following card, the 8 of Wands, it is obvious that movement does eventually intensify again and the Catch-22 ends.
So is it just a matter of perseverance, mind over matter in the meantime?
2022 RE-CAP: 2 of Swords
The 2 of Swords in 2022 brought me the lesson of stationing and stilling my mind. It was nice to be reminded of this card’s gentle message throughout the year. NOT THINKING rather than OVER-ANALYZING really is often the best solution!
