Astro-"Mad Libs": A Fun Tool for Learning Astrology

It
can be frustrating for the person learning astrology to understand how the
individual parts of their birth chart work together to make one unified whole. One way to put it all together is to create
sentences for how planets, signs, and/or houses are interacting in your chart,
leaving blanks for each individual part which you can fill in using several
different keywords associated with that individual part. In the example below, for instance, I am
working with Venus Conjunct Uranus so that I can better understand what those
two planets look like when working together in a conjunct aspect.
First,
I create an open sentence that will allow me to fill in keywords for Venus,
Uranus, and the Conjunct aspect itself:
My ___________________________ is ____________________________ my _____
(Venus) (Conjunct)
_______________.
(Uranus)
Second, I fill in the blanks with keywords or phrases that I associate with each planet, aspect, or house:
My manner of relating to other people is influenced greatly by my urge for independence
(Venus) (Conjunct)
and individuality.
(Uranus)
Finally, I can experiment with the sentence I’ve already created by plugging in new keywords or phrases, or create a new sentence that I fill in with keywords/phrases. Eventually I can begin to see a variety of ways that this one aspect (Venus conjunct Uranus) works in my chart:
My ability to
attract people and resources to me is working in tandem with my
(Venus) (Conjunct)
spontaneity and humanitarian impulse.
(Uranus)
Some other sentences you might turn into fill-in-the blanks (just create a blank for each planet, aspect, or house):My Sun is in the 7th House can become "My ____________ shows itself best in an environment ___________."
When you fill in these blanks, you might get something like this: "My ego personality shows itself best in an environment that involves relating to other people one-on-one."
My Moon is in Capricorn in the 2nd House can become, "My __________ is _______________ and ________________."
When you fill in these blanks, you might get something like this: "My emotional nature is in need of long-term stability and expresses itself best in places that promote pleasurable acceptance of the material world."

If you're having trouble coming up with keywords or phrases to use for each part, do a little online searching for that specific planet, aspect, or house. I highly recommend Skyscript.co.uk for a better understanding of each planet and house (just look at the links on the left side of the website there).
