Many spiritual teachers or healers, even now myself, offer their services to corporations. I, for instance, have just begun offering Reiki Group Healing services to organizations--which theoretically could include corporations. A fairly successful medium whose Intuition Development Circle I attend on Tuesday nights recently told our circle that when he began his Spiritual/Mediumship business he did so with the intention of "making corporations more spiritual." I wonder, though, when people begin to see themselves as spiritual beings, if they will not be less inclined to want to use themselves as well-oiled cogs in the corporate profit-driven machine? When you heal a corporation, don't you in fact dissolve it? (continue reading after photo...)

I recently heard a woman talk about her personal process of spiritual healing, which she said involved realizing that there might be something more to life than just working 80 hours a week to secure a nice house and all the amenities that go with it. Isn't that similar to what many of us realize when we wake up from the fog of capitalism? That life is not spiritually fulfilling when all we do is work and then spend large quantities of money towards repairing the anxiety and depression our purposeless jobs (purposeless because again, we are just a cog in someone else's profit-seeking machine) have caused us? The things we buy to fill our voids don't do us any good either, as they are also tools of capitalism to keep us in a zombie loop of consumption: they serve simply to numb us. We lose our identities and our families to our jobs. Even those at the very top of the capitalist machine are not happy with the results... they want MORE too, their own voids quite large.
So when we begin to heal, when we gain greater spiritual insight into acceptance and thankfulness, we realize that we do not need to be greedy ourselves, and we do not need to be tools of the greedy, whether as their workers or their consumers. We can learn to value what WE value, rather than what corporations tell us to value via constant advertising of their products. We can learn to create abundance without taking abundance from others.
I find myself to still be in the process of healing from capitalism. I am addicted to things, to wastefulness, to soda and food. I can tell you though that in my healing journey, I have definitely healed enough that I will never work for a corporation again. When I talk of "corporations" in the title to this blog entry, I'm referring specifically to profit-motivated corporations, which really is almost all of them. Sure, their are organizations with altruistic goals who happen to have formed as corporations, but this is not the prototypical corporate model (and we know it).
I wonder if others seeking spiritual paths will also turn away from corporate work, and if so, is that in itself the healing alchemy that will take us beyond capitalism, beyond say, Berkshire Hathaways?
