New Moon in Aries: I am here to be alive!

This morning I woke up earlier than usual for a lazy weekend day, planted some jonquil bulbs, re-potted a lilac bush I purchased last night, watered these and the other plants, and cleaned up the debris and mess than the landlord's maintenance workers have left around the house lately, and cleaned my computer. Other plans for the day include riding my bike back from downtown (where I left it Friday night after attending Knoxville's "First Friday" art gallery event), taking the recycling, getting out my very first newsletter (!), and if I can really get myself to ride the wave of vitality that this New Moon brings, cleaning my bedroom and doing some laundry as well.
That might sound a bit mundane, but the New Moon is also in opposition to Saturn (with the New Moon at 13° 30' of Aries and Saturn at 13° 55' of Libra), and so it does make sense that I would find myself able to draw on the life-giving energy of an Aries New Moon to take care of mundane, foundation-strengthening work that comes under Saturn's jurisdiction. I don't like getting into "this is what you should do, or this is what will happen to you" during a particular transit, but it does seem appropriate somehow to plant living things (like jonquil bulbs) as a sort of celebration of the new moon in lively, life-loving Aries.

Any transit, including that of a New Moon, simply presents to use energies that we may actually feel (I definitely feel more alive and vitalized with this moon, but I don't *always* feel transits especially strongly), but that we can always tap into if we want. We can also see transiting planets, in both their relation to other transiting planets but also in aspect to our own natal charts, as having symbolic meaning. Even if things don't feel especially highly-charged today, think of the New Moon Chart as a symbolic map of the energy available to you at the start of this lunation cycle.
The ruler of the New Moon is Mars, a planet that also just recently entered Aries and is now conjunct Uranus between 1 and 2° of the sign. With Mars in its own sign, where it is most comfortable, and marrying itself with the energies of Uranus, we can symbolically see this New Moon as one of electric, life-affirming self-assertion. Self-assertion that takes into account the group. It is a great time to ACT, and I don't mean on Broadway (though that's "great work if you can get it") but just to move, exist, and engage with the world in ways that make you feel alive. Whatever you are doing (Aries/Mars) is the beginning (New Moon) of a meaningful undertaking (Saturn) that benefits the world, the universe, everyone and everything (Uranus).
If you'd like to check out the chart for this New Moon, I've added it below, and you can also always see the charts of New and Full Moons at my website, here. You can click on any chart to view a larger version of it. If you want to see a larger version of the full moons, click on the image and then scroll down (it will be beneath the New Moon image for that month). These are cast for Knoxville, TN, so disregard the ascendant and houses unless you're local to me. ;) Have fun today!
